UHC FAQ

Things to know about using your plans extra benefits!

We know you have questions about your plan such as How to use it, and when you can. Here we will highlight some of the details. You can find full plan details in the Evidence of Coverage

I want to go to a gym using Renew active. Is it the same as Silver Sneakers?

This year Renew Active has a new approach to accessing gyms. You can click here and fill out the simple form and get a code. the code will be used the first time you go to the gym you picked and they will issue you a gym membership card. It will be the same steps for any gym that Renew Active covers.

Do I have to see a Network Dentist?

Good news! If you have the Medicare advantage complete PPO  or the Medicare Advantage Choice HMO-POS you can go to any dentist that takes Medicare.  The easiest way to find out if your dentist is in-network is to call them and ask if they are in the UnitedHealthCare network. If not just have them put the codes on a general claims form so you can send it to UnitedHealthcare.
If you are on the D-SNP Plan you do not have the Point of Service option. Please make sure the dentist is in-network before visiting, you can call us or the Dentist to find out.

How does my hearing coverage work?

The Hearing Coverage this year is under UnitedHealthCare Hearing. It is $0 Co-pay for the Ruitine Exam at an IN-Network provider and Hearing aids will vary in costs Starting with a Basic Behind the Ear to Premium with several options in between. Hearing aids are obtained through UnitedHealthCare Hearing and have pick-up or home delivery options. What activities you do may affect your choice of hearing aid and you should consult your care provider about which one would best suit you. Remember this benefit requires being in-network and going out of network may mean coving the full expense.

What does Annual or 1 per year mean?

In some cases as with Vision, one per year means a year from the last exam you have filed a claim for. This means if you have had a claim for a Routine Eye Exam in September of last year you should not go and have another at the start of a new policy Year (January 1st). Be sure to check with Member Services to see if the service you want to schedule is per policy year or a year from the last service. You can find their number on the back of your UnitedHealthCare Card.
